Overview
The familiar picture of someone stooped, shuffling, with a tremor and a blank expression is the usual image most people have of Parkinson’s disease (PD).
However, PD does not just cause a movement disorder. Many patients will go on to suffer problems with anxiety, depression, sleep disorders and worst of all psychosis. Psychosis often occurs with florid visual hallucinations in their homes of people or animals. These are often described as the non-motor symptoms of PD.
Treatment of these problems is a skilled art and, unfortunately, many people with PD and neuropsychiatric problems never get access to the best care. If you or a loved one are unfortunate enough to develop PD with neuropsychiatric problems, this team has much experience and help to offer.
