Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Overview

Anxiety is not easy to describe but we’ve all felt it. It can be a response to stress in particular situations, sometimes we can’t say what exactly is making us feel anxious, but we still feel it.

This generalised type of anxiety is sometimes described as ‘free floating’ or non-specific. The symptoms of anxiety are still experienced like any other anxiety disorder.

The main symptoms of anxiety are physical (fast breathing, difficulty breathing, heart-thumping, chest pain, sweatiness, tremor, dry mouth and sometimes a feeling of sickness); and psychological (having a feeling of dread, of suffocation and wanting to escape).
